Milmeq custom designs systems to optimise processing for meat operations including beef, sheep, pork, goats, calves and deer.

Our red meat processing systems include complete abattoir design, incorporating all the systems and equipment to process beef and sheep product from hot to cold.

Having worked in the red meat industry since the 1950s, we pioneered many of the technologies which have shaped the operating environment today. For example, the inverted processing system, where carcasses are suspended by their fore legs during the pelt removal process, was pioneered by Milmeq in New Zealand in the 1980s; today it is recognised as setting the global standard for sheep and deer processing delivering superior food hygiene and operating efficiencies.

Our industry-leading plate freezers and chilling and freezing tunnels have been deployed in meat processing operations around the globe, delivering improvements in operational efficiencies as well as product quality.

Design Considerations

The design of complete slaughter facilities will include the following considerations.

Complete Abattoir Systems

Beef Processing Systems

Milmeq offers a total processing solution for the slaughter and dressing of beef cattle. Our system design is inclusive of all abattoir processes and operations from stunning through to palletising.

Milmeq beef processing systems can be designed for throughputs ranging from 6 head per shift up to more than 1,900 head per shift.

We also design for varying weights of cattle from 75kg vealers through to 2,000kg plus bulls.

With the decrease in availability of skilled butchers and increasing throughput requirements, many plants opt to include or upgrade key tasks within a slaughter system with automation and/or robotics. Milmeq can deliver systems for complete manual operations, or can include automated equipment for difficult and physically challenging tasks such as hide pulling.

The individual equipment solutions listed within our Primary Food Processing category will all be considered when designing a complete beef processing system.

All equipment is manufactured in-house to the highest quality standards and this enables us to provide industry-leading warranties. Integration of a user friendly system interface allows straightforward, reliable operation.

Complete Abattoir Systems

Sheep Processing Systems

Milmeq offers a total processing solution for the slaughter and dressing of sheep and lamb. Our system design is inclusive of all abattoir processes and operations from stunning through to palletising.

Milmeq sheep processing systems can be designed for throughputs ranging from 200 head per shift up to 4,800 head per shift.

We also design for varying weights and ages of sheep.

With the decrease in availability of skilled butchers and increasing throughput requirements, many plants opt to include or upgrade key tasks within a slaughter system with automation and/or robotics. Milmeq can deliver systems catered for complete manual operations through to fully automated systems.

The individual equipment solutions listed within our Primary Food Processing category will all be considered when designing a complete sheep processing system.
