We have delivered primary food processing, materials handling and chilling and freezing technology to clients around the globe.
The following are some of our recent projects.
Kilcoy Pastoral Company operates a specialised facility in Queensland to process grain-fed cattle. The company’s focus is production of high value, premium beef products for international markets.
In 2015, Kilcoy embarked on a project to significantly expand their processing capacity and enhance the quality and consistency of their products.
Upgrading the slaughter floor capacity was one of the first stages of this project, and Kilcoy engaged Milmeq to provide a solution for this.
The most challenging aspect of the brief was the need to work largely within the existing kill floor area, while also delivering the required increase in throughput.
We worked closely with the Kilcoy team to develop an innovative design that would extend their processing capacity 60% to 130 carcasses per hour, with only an 18% increase in floor area.
Key features of the new design included a moving bed bleed table, two stationary hide pullers, complete with hock restrainers, and a fully mechanised, large capacity retain system.
The process design includes capacity to add a system for individual carcass traceability in the future.
The installation was delivered in two stages, with the all equipment and control system installation and reconfiguration work taking place within a 10 day production shut-down at Christmas 2015 and a 24 day shut-down during Easter 2016.
Throughput, efficiency and product consistency have all been increased as a result of the slaughter floor upgrade.
Following completion of our slaughter floor upgrade and upgrades to other areas of the plant that were provided by other contractors, Kilcoy has doubled their daily processing output, with capacity to further increase this when required.
“The slaughter floor upgrade provided by Milmeq has been integral to achieving our ongoing commitment to providing high quality beef to the world market. We particularly valued their design expertise and commitment to delivering a solution that meets our present and future needs.”
