We have delivered chilling and freezing technology to clients around the globe.
The following are some of our recent projects.
Arla is one of the UK’s largest cheese processors and owns six creameries across the country.
At its Taw Valley site in Tawton, Devon, the company produces hard cheeses such as cheddar, Red Leicester and Double Gloucester.
The Taw Valley site had an old cheese cooling tunnel from another supplier which was no longer able the match the rest of the creamery’s throughput.
Arla required a new cheese cooling tunnel that would handle the plant’s throughput and provide reliable operation.
After viewing Milmeq tunnel installations at other sites, Arla engaged us to provide this for them.
One of the challenges of this project was that the new tunnel must fit into the existing floor space where the old tunnel had been operating, while also having capacity to hold significantly more product.
We produced a custom-designed MILMEQ® Cheese Cooling Tunnel to fit Arla’s specific criteria.
The tunnel holds 7,128 20-kilogram blocks, cooling them from 34°C to 14°C in a 24-hour cycle.
As well as meeting Arla’s present throughput requirements, the tunnel has the capacity to be expanded if their production was to increase in the future.
The project was delivered in conjunction with our UK market partners Starfrost and Star Refrigeration.
Since being installed, the tunnel has been running to specification and operates 365 days of the year. The client has been extremely happy with the result.
“Going in, we were confident of a good result with Milmeq. The tunnel installed didn’t disappoint and is helping us deliver a consistently high-quality product to our customers.”
