SRT Poultry Freezing Tunnel

The Client

Banham Poultry is an end-to-end poultry producer in the UK, with their production spanning from hatching and rearing chicks to high welfare standards to producing poultry products.

It is an independent family-run business, which is the biggest employer in the mid-Norfolk constituency.

The Challenge

As part of a drive to increase its production capacity, Banham Poultry was looking to replace its older freezing tunnel from another provider.

The old tunnel was not performing in a reliable manner and did not have the capacity to handle the increased throughput Banham Poultry wanted to achieve.

SRT Poultry Freezing Tunnel

Our Solution

We delivered a MILMEQ® Single Retention Time Freezing Tunnel (SRT) that has a capacity of 6,370 chicken cartons (approximately 16.5 kilograms each). The tunnel freezes the cartons from 14°C to -18°C in 24 hours.

The tunnel was installed alongside a new refrigeration plant from our UK agent partners, Star Refrigeration.

With its simple design and few moving parts, the SRT tunnel is specifically designed to be low maintenance and deliver continuous performance.

It also has the capacity for expansion, should Banham Poultry’s throughput increase further in the future.

SRT Poultry Freezing Tunnel

The Result

Banham Poultry now has a reliable tunnel with a guaranteed freezing performance. This enables the plant to operate efficiently and protect the quality of its poultry products.
