Primary Food Processing

Milmeq custom designs systems to optimise processing for meat operations including beef, sheep, pork, goats, calves and deer. This includes designs for ritual slaughter process requirements, such as Halal.

In the early 1980s Milmeq pioneered the inverted processing system for lamb and sheep. Today this is recognised as setting the global industry standard, minimising carcass contamination and thus increasing product quality as well as improving operating efficiencies.

Our Primary Food Processing system expertise includes complete abattoir design for beef and sheep processing, overhead conveyor configurations for a wide range of animal breeds, ages, throughput rates and manning levels, and a range of semi- and fully-automated machines (including robotics) to assist with all stages of red meat processing.

Evisceration and Offal Processing

Automated Brisket Cutting and Evisceration Robots for Lamb and Sheep

Traditionally evisceration has been a processing stage for red meat that requires a high level of skill and precision from operators in order to achieve minimal carcass damage. Recently Milmeq has developed robotic solutions to some aspects of the process, reducing the reliance on skilled labour and increasing productivity as well as providing consistent carcass quality.

In conjunction with Ovine Automation Limited, a consortium of New Zealand lamb processors, we have developed world leading fully automated robotic brisket cutting and evisceration robots. These are the first of a number of next generation, robotic meat processing solutions that are currently in development.

These robotic machines adapt to each specific carcass’ attributes to deliver a fully automated solution to these labour intensive, strenuous and hazardous tasks, delivering significant labour savings while minimising cross contamination and resulting in improved carcass quality with the highest level of food safety.
