We offer spray chiller design, installation and commissioning for beef, sheep and deer. These can be part of a new chiller installation or retrofitted into existing chiller rooms and provide a controlled mist of chilled water over the carcass to aid the carcass chilling process, minimising the degree of weight loss through moisture evaporation.
Each spray chiller installation is optimised to the species, age and size range of carcasses to ensure carcass quality is preserved. Effective spray chilling systems can reduce weight loss from between 2.5-3.5% observed with air chilling to less than 0.5% weight loss with spray chilling over 24 hours. Spray chilling can reduce yield loss during the chilling process as well as providing a more rapid rate of chilling, leading to improved carcass quality and shelf life.
