Milmeq custom designs, engineers and manufactures equipment for primary food processing operations, providing the complete solution to take the product from hot to cold.
Use the below filters to filter our systems and equipment by system category and industry.
Milmeq custom designs systems to optimise processing for meat operations including beef, sheep, pork, goats, calves and deer.
Our red meat processing systems include complete abattoir design, incorporating all the systems and equipment to process beef and sheep product from hot to cold.
Having worked in the red meat industry since the 1950s, we pioneered many of the technologies which have shaped the operating environment today. For example, the inverted processing system, where carcasses are suspended by their fore legs during the pelt removal process, was pioneered by Milmeq in New Zealand in the 1980s; today it is recognised as setting the global standard for sheep and deer processing delivering superior food hygiene and operating efficiencies.
Our industry-leading plate freezers and chilling and freezing tunnels have been deployed in meat processing operations around the globe, delivering improvements in operational efficiencies as well as product quality.
The Milmeq Fully Automated Stock Transfer (MFAST) system is now revolutionising materials handling for meat processors, offering superior efficiency in operations, use of space and quality of product.
The following systems and equipment have been developed to enhance processing operations within the red meat industry.
Milmeq offers a variety of solutions for the efficient hide or pelt removal of beef and sheep carcasses, ensuring the quality of both the hide and the carcass is maintained.
Milmeq has developed a range of semi- and fully-automated hide and pelt pulling machines suited to beef and sheep processing.
All of our solutions are geared specifically for operator safety, efficiency and quality carcass presentation.
We also provide equipment to achieve clean and precise work-up to the flank and brisket, which assists in preparing the carcass for efficient pelt and hide removal.
Our hide and pelt removal equipment includes:
Milmeq beef hide pullers are compatible with head-on as well as head-off processing and can incorporate electronic back stiffeners to eliminate the problem of broken backs and product degradation during the hide removal process.
Milmeq hock restraint systems can also be used in conjunction with the hide removal process. Our hock restrainers are designed to securely hold the animal and ensure safety for the operator.
Having a well-designed hock restrainer in place allows for greater force to be applied on the hide while minimising the risk of the carcass falling from the rail. Hock restrainers can be designed suited to varying levels of automation, depending on processing requirements.
Milmeq is a world leader in the development of fully automated pelt removal equipment for small stock.
An important part of the hide and pelt removal process surrounds the broadest part of a carcass, the shoulders. This is where the most strain and tearing can occur which can reduce the yield and product quality.
We have focused our development and design attention towards this part of the process and as a result have a range of shoulder puller systems to suit different process requirements.
One of our key developments in this area is the Variable Independent Path (VIP) shoulder puller system, which assesses the unique shape of each carcass before applying an automatic pulling path. The VIP shoulder puller is the only fully automated shoulder puller of its kind.
Our range of sheep and small stock pelt pullers include:
